GTA 6 launches November 19: story, price, platforms and what is still unknown
Thirteen years after GTA 5, the most anticipated game of the decade has a date, a price and two leads. Here is what is certain and what Rockstar has not said yet.

Grand Theft Auto VI is 15 days away, set for November 19, 2026. It has been more than 13 years since GTA 5 came out in September 2013, and very few games have made people wait this long. Now that the date finally looks firm, it is worth putting in one place what Rockstar has confirmed, what changed along the way and what is still in the dark.
A wait of nearly five years
Rockstar confirmed in February 2022 that the next GTA was in development. The first trailer arrived in December 2023, when the game was expected in 2025. In May 2025 came the first delay, to May 2026. In November last year the company pushed it again, this time to November 19, 2026. The date has not moved since.
Who you play, and where
For the first time in the main series in a long while, there are two playable leads: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Lucia's story starts as she leaves prison. Jason already lives in the Leonida Keys and is mixed up in small local crimes. A heist gone wrong throws them into a larger conspiracy that spreads across the whole state.

That state is Leonida, a fictional take on Florida. The regions confirmed so far are Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga National Park. The official size of the map has not been revealed, and the main villain is still a secret.

The launch trailer
On October 15, Rockstar released the launch trailer, about 90 seconds long, centered on Jason and Lucia and with new scenes of Vice City. The company says the footage was captured in-game on a PlayStation 5, without saying whether it was the standard console or the Pro. The soundtrack is by French duo Justice, with the track "Flower in a Hurricane", featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

How much it costs
Pre-orders opened on June 25. The Standard edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate is $99.99. On the Brazilian PlayStation Store, the prices are R$ 449.90 and R$ 549.90. Anyone who pre-orders by November 20 also gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, according to what was announced at pre-order.
One detail caught many people by surprise: the boxed version has no disc. Inside is only a code to download the game, according to Rockstar support. In other words, no lending it to a friend or reselling it later.
Where you can play
GTA 6 comes out for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no announcement for PS4 and Xbox One. PC is also left out for now: there is no date or system requirements, and Rockstar only says that version will come later. For console players, digital preloading starts at midnight on November 12, which spares you a giant download on launch day.
What is still a mystery
A lot is still open. The online mode has not been detailed and it is unknown whether there will be cross-play between platforms. The full map has not appeared. And nobody outside the studio has seen how the game behaves beyond the trailers.
Is it worth pre-ordering?
If you have a PS5 or Xbox Series console and will play from day one, pre-ordering secures the bonus and the preload. If you are unsure, waiting for the first reviews is a perfectly reasonable choice. The game will not leave the catalog, and the digital price is usually the same in the first weeks.

Prices and dates follow what was reported up to October 15 and may be adjusted by Rockstar. Before you buy, check the game's official page and your console's store.
